Spotlight on the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT

Goodyear’s Winter Reactive Technology is a whole suite of features that work together to enhance control and traction in wintry conditions. They start out with Goodyear’s Winter Grip tread compound, formulated to stay flexible at low temperatures for traction. The compound is molded into a directional tread design that features sweeping grooves to help move water and slush away from the tire’s contact patch. The tread incorporates two patterns of sipes for extra biting edges that dig into snow and slush. The angled three-dimensional TredLock sipes at the tire shoulders interlock for extra cornering traction with lateral sipes across the center section of the tread add grip for starting and braking.

Goodyear’s Ultra Grip Ice WRT winter/snow tires meet the industry’s standards for severe snow service and are embossed with the Mountain + Snowflake symbol on the sidewall. The Ultra Grip Ice WRT should only be installed in sets of four for proper handling and traction. Like all winter tires, the Goodyear Ultra Grip Ice WRT shouldn’t be used when temperatures exceed 40 degrees F (or 4 degrees C). Winter tires use a tread compound that’s designed to stay softer and more flexible at low temperatures; leaving them on the vehicle at temperatures above freezing will soon cause premature wear.
