Giving Back and Paying Forward
December 19th, 2016
At The Tire Terminal in Mississauga, ON, we’re big believers in giving some goodwill and charity back to our community, especially over the holidays. We feel that “paying it forward” goes hand in hand with the idea that “what comes around, goes around” and that it all pays off in the long run.
Here are some ways you can kick in and help your neighbors in the greater Toronto area, over Christmas and beyond:
Habitat for Humanity is always looking for volunteers, but especially around the holidays. No customer service experience is needed, and your friendly presence can be a help for low-income families in search of home furnishings or renovation materials at discount prices.
There are several local shelters were help is very much appreciated in a cold Toronto winter. If you’d like to help with kitchen work and food prep, cleanup, housing applications or sorting and packing of donations, they’d love to talk to you.
The Holiday Hamper provides gifts, food, clothes and other necessities for the disadvantaged over the holidays. They’re in need of coordinators, drivers and sorter/wrappers over the holiday season.
Meals on Wheels is always looking for help year-round, but especially over Christmas and New Years’. Delivering hot, delicious meals to home-bound seniors is a great way to give back to your community; they can use your help either as driver or foodservice volunteer.
Toronto’s Evergreen Brick Works is a favorite destination over the holidays. If you love kids and working with the public, they need volunteers to help make the skating rink’s rental desk a friendly, warm and welcoming destination.
If you’ve ever done any volunteer work in the Mississauga and Toronto area, you’re familiar with the warm and fulfilling feeling that it brings. It’s a passion of ours at The Tire Terminal, and it’s part of our commitment to our town. We want to encourage you to kick in as well…and of course, we want to wish you and your family happy holidays, filled with all the best! And remember that volunteer work is appreciated not just during the holidays, but year-round!
